HPGen awarded prestigious Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label for clean and profitable solutions

 In News

HPNow’s patented HPGen solution for the on-site generation of hydrogen peroxide, has received the “Solar Impulse Efficient Solution” Label, rewarding profitable solutions to protect the environment.

HPGen is the world’s first and only on-site hydrogen-peroxide generation solution – for safe, environmentally friendly and secure water and wastewater treatment. HPGen was attributed the “Solar Impulse Efficient Solution” Label following an assessment performed by external independent experts and based on verified standards. It is thereby joining the #1000solutions challenge, an initiative by the Solar Impulse Foundation to select solutions that meet high standards in profitability and sustainability and present them to decision-makers to fast-track their implementation.

Clean alternative

The global annual output of over 6.5M Tons of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is produced in centralized chemical production plants, emitting greenhouse gasses (GHG) equivalent to the emissions of over 3 million cars, and outputting up to 60M Tons / annum of toxic waste – amounting to 8 kg of toxic waste on average for every person on our planet.

Delivery of H2O2 from these centralized production plants to millions of distributed points of use requires transportation of a high-concentrate, highly-explosive solution, and a complex, hazardous, costly, and increasingly regulated supply chain. HPNow offers a comprehensive line of on-site H2O2 generation solutions, based on its proprietary direct electrochemical synthesis technology, and requiring only water, electricity and air to operate. The HPGen technology is highly scalable, and designed to meet demands ranging from 1 kg / day to 100 kg / day and above, with applications ranging from irrigation water treatment, to industrial and municipal waste and drinking water treatment.

Thorough assessment

To receive the “Solar Impulse Efficient Solution” Label, HPGen was thoroughly assessed by a pool of independent experts according to 5 criteria covering the three main topics of Feasibility, Environmental and Profitability. All labelled solutions are part of the #1000solutions portfolio that will be presented to decision-makers in business and government by Bertrand Piccard, Chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation. The aim of this initiative is to encourage the adoption of more ambitious environmental targets and fast-track the implementation of these solutions on a large scale.
